A day in the life...

Tyson is at campus late finishing up homework that's due by midnight and I'm trying to stay awake until he gets home...so why not write a journal entry? Tonight Ty had a meeting with a guy who's thinking of selling for Preventive Pest Control. He was taking him out for dinner and invited Carter and I to come along for family night. We went to The Olive Garden...mmm. Carter was kind of grumpy because I took him to the mall with me today during his naptime, but we still had a good time.

We had the sampler appetizer with calamari, toasted ravioli, and fried zucchini.

I had eggplant parmigiana for my main dish

and Tyson had crab alfredo venezia.

Carter ate all the black olives out of our salad, half a breadstick, and two bites of his sundae. He kept taking off and running to the entrance of the restaurant. As we were paying the bill, he ran off and got to the door just as someone was coming in. He stuck his head in the door to keep it open...crazy kid! He is turning into quite the independent little boy.

At the mall today, I got Carter a new pair of black Champion sport sandals and a spring tie. The shoes he's been wearing are a size 5, but his new sandals are a size 7! I can't believe how fast he is growing. I was hoping to get Tyson and Carter matching Easter ties to surprise them in their Easter baskets, but Tyson is so picky about ties-I think he will have to help me pick them out. I did get a surprise for my special hubby....the Madden 07 football game for Wii and another nunchuk (this is the name for a kind of controller the Wii uses). I overheard Jamin and Tyson talking the other night about how cool this game is supposed to be on the Wii and I found it on sale used at Gamestop...so I couldn't resist. Too bad he is so busy tonight he can't even enjoy it...:(

Yesterday, Tyson had to work 4pm-10pm at the OPS center. He had to leave church a little early to make it on time. The servers for the Church and BYU are located at his work, so it has to be manned 24/7...no vacations. He only has to work about one Sunday a month-but we miss him those Sundays. Carter and I made him dinner and brought it to him at BYU. Then Carter and I just walked around BYU until it got dark. Carter loves the rocks and fountain of water at the JFSB and squealed when he saw it. He tried pulling off his sweater to get in the water...until I put his hand in and showed him how cold it was. He also found a long line of bright yellow plants that he liked to smell (well..."inhale" is more like it). He picked one and gave it to me...he could tell I really appreciated his thoughtfulness and so picked me more....and more...and, well you get the idea. I finally had to pick him up and move him away from the plants.

Here are some random things Carter and I like to do to keep ourselves busy after preschool each day:
  • Eat treats. Tyson makes fun of me for being such a sweet-a-holic and I have most definitely passed it onto my son. We both cannot pass up a good treat.

  • Cooking and Baking. I have really enjoyed making menus for two weeks at a time, trying new recipes, and grocery shopping with Carter. He seems to enjoy the time together as well.

  • Playing outside. Carter LOVES to be outside...especially now that the weather is so nice. We like to go upstairs and play on the swing set, downstairs to jump on the trampoline, or out front to play with the guinea pigs or take a walk.

  • Playing inside. Carter loves to play board games (Chutes and Ladders, Rummikub, Husker Du, and Candyland)...adapted of course, dress up in his goggles and look in the mirror (he thinks they're glasses like his Daddy's), play hide-and-go-seek, and his favorite: READ. His favorite books right now from the library are Color Zoo, Daddy and Me, and Here Are My Hands.

I sure love my precious Carter...he is one special boy. He teaches me things every day and I know I am a better person because of him and Tyson in my life.

Goodnight, my angel boy
