I'd be remisced if i didn't post some of my thoughts on this monumental day. I've watched and read much of what's been happening with the inauguration today and I've been overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude to live in this country. I may not agree with all of President Obamas ideas or policies, but I am grateful for his sacrifice and dedication to the office of President of the United States. I turned 18 right before the 2000 presidential election and was able to vote for President Bush. I am very grateful for his sacrifice and service to our country and am proud that I was able to exercise my democratic rights and make my voice heard. On Monday in preschool we spoke about the significance of Martin Luther King, Jr. day and our new president. I was drawn to tears and I talked to these kids about how far our country has come. With the kids, we brainstormed ways we could "lift where we stand" (my ward's goal for the year actually), but also taking President Obama's encouragement to serve and make our communities better. The kids had some great ideas and I felt so strongly that they are the rising generation. I feel very grateful to be a citizen of this great nation and know that I CAN lift where I stand.
