Soul2Soul 2007

Yay! Tyson and I attended the Faith Hill and Tim McGraw Soul 2 Soul 2007 concert last night at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake. It was sooo fun! I've been to a handful of other country concerts (when I lived in San Antonio and also with roomies at college), but this was Tyson's very first concert. What a first concert to have...2 big singers with tons of hits, lots of love and marriage songs, and very cool special effects.

Yes, this is a self-portrait. Hence, my face is at a weird angle and our faces are quite pale from the flash....oh well

The concert started out with Faith and Tim singing together. It was pitch dark and then the spotlight came on Faith standing on one of the walkways (there were four walkways off the middle circle going North, South, East, and West). Everybody started clapping like crazy. Then Tim came up through an opening in the walkway opposite Faith....more crazy shouting and clapping. They walked toward each other as they sang. It was very cool.

After their duet, Tim left the stage and Faith sang her hits for an hour. The stage was so cool. It was a bunch of little screens. There were all these cool designs, pictures, and words that flashed across while she sang. There were also big screens hanging with close-ups for those of us up high in the nose-bleed sections. Here are some pics of Faith and the cool designs on the stage. The top left picture here was my favorite. It was a swimming pool with little kids swimming (during the song Sunshine and Summertime). Then there were synchronized swimmers doing these cool patterns in the water...it was so clear-Tyson and I were totally amazed at the screens.)

After an hour of Faith singing, the lights went out again. When they came back on, Tim and Faith were sitting in chairs back to back with sheer curtains hanging around them. They sang the "angry" song...you know the one where he talks about leaving...it shouldn't be so rough to live with a man, but why do you have to be angry all the time... I think they sang another break-upish type song too. It's hard to see them in these pics because the lights were dim....but they're sitting there in the middle in the first picture and standing around the circle in the second.

Next, it was Tim's turn. His stage designs were flashy and bright. The girls in the audience were screaming like crazy all throughout his performance. He's definitely a great entertainer...he was really fun to watch. My favorite stage design for him was for the song "She's my kinda rain" It was a big root growing deeper and longer as the rain fell. Once again, those floor monitors were amazing because it looked real. Tim sang for about an hour.

Of course, the show ended with Faith coming back up through an opening in the stage on the opposite end and Faith and Tim singing a few more songs together-their best love song duets...it was so great. I nearly cried during their closing number "I need you." They were sitting in chairs facing each other with their knees touching and their hands resting on each other's thighs, singing into the same microphone in the middle of them....it was so cute! The whole concert was about 3 1/2 hours...well spent!

Aaaahhh!!! Are you kidding??? I was there too!!!! That is so crazy! Where were you guys?? You must've been a little closer (or you have a better camera) because you have way better pics than I do. At least this way, if I want to remember the concert, I'll just look at your pics! :) I finally gave up taking pics because they weren't really effective in the memory department. Well, anyway, I LOVED it! I thought it was amazing... plus I was without my kids! I went with a friend so it was a nice girls night for me... :) I'm glad you guys enjoyed it too! I got some quick video that I'm going to try and post... again, you can't see much, but you can hear pretty good. We'll see if I am able to do that.Love you, Michelle
