Ward Trunk or Treat

For our ward Trunk or Treat, Carter was a monkey and Taylee was a pumpkin. The costumes were pretty last minute because we had every intention of letting Carter be SuperWhy for Halloween...but I just couldn't get the costume to look right. There's a fine line with super hero costumes...tights and underwear...you know what I'm saying. SuperWhy isn't yet a very commericalized super hero, so I couldn't find one already made and the ones I came up with...well, they kept looking like tights with underwear. So, Ty and I went shopping a few days before Halloween and found this monkey and pumpkin costume half off at Old Navy...sweet deal. Then, at our ward shindig, a couple across the street with twins tells me that they have 2 old navy monkey costumes from last year...in size 6 months!! I was so excited. So, we borrowed a costume and Taylee and Carter dressed as two little monkeys for Halloween night. What fun! I was Pippi Longstocking...who I've been for Halloween since I was 13 or 14. It's such an easy costume to adapt year after year. And who doesn't like braiding their hair up in a hanger?
Halloween Night

Jared, Braden, and their "uncle" David came up to trick or treat with us. They looked great dressed up as a ninja, Superman, and Spiderman. It was a pretty cold night, so I think they only did about a block before they called it a night. Then everyone returned home to check out their loot. I got some pumpkin treats together (pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice cream cookies, and roasted pumpkin seeds) and we ate and played. It was one happy halloween.
Preschool
Our Wednesday Preschool landed on Halloween day, so I started the class out by letting them go through my costume bag. The kids had a blast picking through all the hats and costumes. The letter of the day was R...so we all got to make rainbow eye patches and dress as pirates (who like to make the sound of the letter R)...Argh!
